Kevin Mahoney
Born in 1959 I was brought up in the Vale of Glamorgan since the age of 10 attending Sully school before graduating to Stanwell in the first year of its change to a comprehensive. I currently live in Barry.
Leaving at 16 I successfully completed a 3 year apprenticeship with British Gas whilst attending Llandaff Technical College. Following spells within the gas industry with both Scottish and North Eastern Gas I worked as a self employed engineer for approximately 15 years before becoming responsible for 25 gas engineers who were employed in the repair and maintenance of Rhondda Cynon Taff Council’s housing stock, a position I held until recently becoming a local assistant to John Bufton, UKIP MEP for Wales.
I am currently the President of one of South Wales’s largest GMB union branches, and voluntary represent approximately 350 steelworkers, fabricators, platers and other associated workers in their search for work and decent conditions in the face of continued discrimination from their own British government in favour of foreign workers.
I have always been a keen sportsman and still turn out for Sully RFC as well as playing for a local Ice Hockey side in the area and am a great supporter of the ‘Sport for all’ ethos.
I became involved in politics just 3 years ago after becoming so disgusted with our existing politicians and the alarming decline in standards of this country, instead of just continuing to moan about things I got off my backside and joined UKIP and have since stood for UKIP at the last Welsh Assembly, Local authority and European elections.
