The BBC, it seems, is still in the Dark Ages promoting the falsehood that somehow UKIP is anti-foreigner. A recent Radio 4 programme featured a joke which portrayed UKIP Leader Nigel Farage MEP as moaning that Queen Victoria ‘shouldn’t have married a German’. We could, of course, protest this kind of outrage – or simply point out that Nigel’s wife is German! The joke is on the BBC’s joke-writers who need better material.
Other than UKIP, it seems that it’s in everyone’s best interests politically to tarnish the name and reputation of UKIP by falsely insinuating that there is some almost-racist agenda.
The ‘establishment’ parties of Labour, Lib Dems and Conservatives have reason to smear us because they do not wish us to take their electoral popularity. The BNP would love to falsely associate us with their nasty brand of extremism because they know that they cannot prosper electorally whilst there is a reasonable alternative to the ‘establishment’.
We cannot expect the slurs against us to end any time soon, but our opponents would not bother to deride us if we were not a genuine threat to them!
