Mike Wieteska - Aberconwy

Born in Salford 1945, I was educated to ‘O’ Level standard and was a flight sergeant in the local Air Training Corps. Desiring to write and travel rather than continue on to take ‘A’ Levels I emigrated to Australia where, becoming a committed Christian, I entered the ministry.

Returning to Britain I married Bangor born Lorna and after time spent in Wales returned to Australia before moving on to New Zealand and eventually working amongst the Polynesian islanders.

Back in Europe both Lorna and I began a church in Geneva attended by diplomats and members of the United Nations Organisation regularly supporting AIDs victims in Rwanda and Thailand, orphans in Burma and the Philippines and Untouchables in India.  My wife Lorna worked at the World Health Organisation.

My hobbies range from sailing to chess, and I am a published biographer.  My letters have also been published in Newsweek and the Economist.  I also hold a PhD from North Carolina College of Theology. After Lorna’s tragic death I flew her home to be buried in North Wales near our home in Llanwnda. I later remarried my present wife, Tess, a statistician working with the United Nations.

Having been a founder member of UKIP I have decided to stand for election as I abhor the loss of Sovereignty and basic democracy that we once valued so highly in this country, although I, as much as anyone appreciate and encourage cross border dialogue and mutual co-operation, I feel that only by regaining control over our own destiny whilst retaining the right to frame our own laws without interference from Brussels can we support the essence of democracy in this country.
